PROJECTED COLUMN IS TAKING SHAPE

This week i met up with the project team and local partners and did a site visit to Morpeth Dock in Birkenhead where Anthony McCall’s Projected Column will be sited for the Cultural Olympiad. The project’s development is underway and liason with local planning, environmental and health and safety departments has began. Here are some pictures of a place and landscape that will be transformed for ever by this monumental vision of art and engineering. Projected Column mimics nature and Merseyside will have a spinning column of Cloud, operating on the principles of convection.

One could not ask for a more visionary project to be commissioned for our regional focus on Play and Space. Projected Column is a world first and an artwork that mimicks nature.
