I am the Creative Programmer in the Northwest for London 2012 and programme director of WE PLAY – the Northwest’s cultural legacy project.

My work is informed by an interest in emerging creative cultures, cross cultural practice and topical inter and trans disciplinary debate. This includes live performance and media/digital technologies – both their development and convergence – and the integration of street cultures and DIY cultural practices into the mainstream

My practice has been influenced by my first job in Advertising (Bartle Bogle Hegarty cutting edge campaigns of the 80’s), my BA (hons) Degree (linking anthropology to media studies) and 15 year involvement  in artist run initiatives, collaborative  working practice, international co-productions and interdisciplinary research  across 1990 – 2005.

My current programming focus is shaped by three regional themes which are Body and Economy (digital/disability/science), Play and Space (outdoor performance/public space/street arts) and Routes and Trails (physical/cultural connectivity/mobility)

From 1990 – 2004, I was co-partner of London based arts and media research and production unit, SHINKANSEN (evolving performance through media technologies). shinkansen’s pioneering work is archived as an audio-visual collection in the sound archive of the British Library and at www.connectivity.org.uk

From 2000 – 2005 I was co-director of digital production unit and 2 year commissioning programme, FUTURE PHYSICAL (placing the body at the centre of digital interaction) The two year programme in East England is archived at www.futurephysical.org

The Creative User Research – are you response-able? (Edited by Debbi Lander) publication of user/audience research in field of body/technologies design was informed by over a decade of audience development by shinkansen – www.creativeuser.org

From 2005 – 2007 I worked as LanderLife, as a researcher and development consultant working with L@TE, Youth Music, Culture Northwest, FACT, English Heritage and Independents Biennial (Liverpool). A key project was the development of Human Futures – FACT’s 2008 programme for the Liverpool 08 Capital of Culture Year.
